Before embarking on your camel ride to spend an overnight in the desert camp with Berber music and sandboarding, you’ll be greeted with a glass of mint tea.

Day 5 : Merzouga – Toudgha Gorges – Dades valley

Your camel man will wake you up early in the morning to see the most beautiful sunrise you’ve ever seen. You’ll camel-trek back to Merzouga village in quiet. The stunning Erg Chebbi sand dunes, which change with the light as the day progresses, are impossible not to admire. After breakfast in the riad, depart for the Rissani, Tinghir, and Todra gorges, Morocco’s highest and narrowest gorges. You can ride through the Dades Valley towards Kalaa M’gouna and Ouarzazat after breakfast in the hotel. The path through Dades Valley is known as the Way of the Thousand Kasbahs, and it offers numerous opportunities to capture some of your best photographic moments of the trip in both the valley rose roses and Ouarzazate’s cinema area, passing by Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. The largest Kasbah in Morocco, founded by T-Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains at the turn of the twentieth century, it served as a rest stop for him on his long journey from the Sahara to Marrakech. A tangle of winding streets and alleys open into verdant gardens and busy souks within the rose-colored medina walls. This incredible ancient fortified Kasbah was built for defense purposes high on a hill and is a stunningly well preserved medieval city that has appeared in many blockbuster movies, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia, because its beauty is unmatched by any other fortified kasbah in south Morocco. Continuing south, we arrive in North Africa’s Hollywood.Ouarzazate – Ouarzazate – Ouarzazate – (pronounced war-zazat). Many other Hollywood blockbusters and famous TV shows have been filmed in Ouarzazate, including James Bond – The Living Daylights, The Mummy, and, most recently, Game of Thrones.

Day 4 : Merzouga Desert

Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Todra Gorge (Sahara). We start our journey into the Sahara this morning with a medley of palm trees, rose fields, and spectacular gorges. Traveling from Ouarzazate, the kasbah Amherdhil in Skoura can be visited before seeing the rose fields and arriving at the scenic Todra Gorge. It is known as Morocco’s Grand Canyon because it is surrounded by towering vertical limestone cliffs that reach heights of 1000 feet. Todra’s allure is in its ever-changing colors as the sun travels from east to west. We hit the road again for Merzouga, our base before heading into the Sahara, after taking some time to walk through Todra. Depending on the time of year, spend the afternoon relaxing and swimming before jumping aboard our camels for an epic trek into the Sahara Desert to see a beautiful sunset and spend the night at our remote Berber Camp, nestled between the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi. We enjoy local food, music, and an amazing night camping in the Sahara.

Fes – Merzouga (Sahara). Early in the morning, we mount our camels and disembark for a breathtaking sunrise. We’re back on the road to Fes after freshening up and breakfast in Merzouga. Today is a long drive, but there is plenty to see along the way. On our way through the Moyen Atlas mountains, we’ll pass through cedar forests full of Barbary Macaque monkeys. We stop in Ifrane, just outside of Fes, a lovely town that has been compared to a Swiss Alpine resort. Along the way, we get our first glimpse of Morocco’s nomadic Berbers, who fly through the mountains and often stay in makeshift tents as they make their way to their next destination. We arrive in Fes early in the evening.

Day 6 : Fes Medina

Fes’ medina is a cacophony of aromas, sights, and sounds, and it is the world’s oldest and largest medieval settlement. We have a guided tour of Fes el Bali, the old walled city, this morning. This fascinating medina is a veritable rabbit warren of 9400 alleys, many of which lead to dead ends, so stick close to your companions! Before lunch in the medina, we even go to the dye pits and tanneries. The rest of the day is free to do as you please; why not attend an optional Tagine Making Class or a night of Moroccan entertainment and food at a local restaurant? (both payable locally).

Day 7 : Rabat

Fes, Volubilis, Meknes, and Rabat are all places worth visiting. We depart Fes this morning for a fascinating visit to the UNESCO-listed Roman ruins of Volubilis, which date from AD40. We go on to the Imperial City of Meknes, which has earned the nickname “Morocco’s Versailles” due to its impressive buildings and elaborate monuments. After lunch and some free time, we’ll travel to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, where we’ll spend the night.

Day 8 : Private Tours Casablanca Morocco
